Fflach is a recording company whose aim is to promote Welsh traditional music, by recording some of the finest traditional musicians in Wales and making them known to a wider audience. There is a resurgence of interest in this music and fflach:tradd is at the forefront of this revival, as the critical acclaim for their recordings has proved.
Fflach Records was formed by brothers Richard and Wyn Jones, of Cardigan, West Wales in 1981. They were, and still are, members of the then 'new wave' Welsh language band Ail Symudiad. At the beginning they recorded only pop, rock and ska bands on vinyl but by the late eighties and early nineties the label had grown considerably. They also have their own 32-track recording studio and by now have two other labels, Rasp for mainly young groups and artists from indie to dance and fflach:tradd which has gained international recognition for cutting edge Welsh traditional music, with CDs that include Welsh harp and triple harp, fiddle, Welsh pipes and crwth.
