Fira Mediterrània of Manresa call for Networking Meeting applications

These Mediterrània Professional Meeting sessions enable presenters to describe their projects to leading market agents

Two weeks ago Fira Mediterrània of Manresa announced the start of the application period and invited companies and artists wanting to feature on the programme for the 2013 event to submit their proposals. Now, as part of the lead-up to the 16th Manresa marketplace, due to be held from 7 to 10 November, Fira has announced the call for applications from speakers wanting to give 15-minute presentations at the Networking Meeting sessions. The call for applications refers to events included on the schedule for the fair’s more professionally-focused side, the Mediterrània Professional Meeting (MPM), which last year ran a total of 70 activities in the Fira programme.

Speakers chosen to participate in the Networking Meeting will have the chance to describe their artistic and cultural projects or present their professional service to potential clients, as these sessions are designed to bring buyers and sellers face to face with each other. The sessions are a great opportunity for making contact with cultural industry professionals from all over the world: managers, directors, editors, associations, advertising and marketing experts, plus many more.

Taking part in the Business Area programme of activities

Networking Meeting sessions will be held in the Llotja Professional - Business Area, the epicentre of business at Fira, which will again be based in Manresa's Museu de la Tècnica this year. Apart from the usual stands and press area, the venue is home to the Conference area, where the professional seminar is held; the Speed-Dating area, the lively space hosting brief meetings between leading cultural agents and professionals wanting to talk to them; plus the Showcases Marquee, where delegates can watch performance slots in the nerve centre of Fira.

Speakers selected to be part of the Networking Meeting sessions programme will be given free passes for the 16th Fira Mediterrània. To present a proposal, send an e-mail to programadors@firamediterrania.cat before Monday 15 April. Applications should include the title of the session, a summary of the presentation, a short biography of the speaker/s involved, a link to information posted on the Internet about the topic and brief contact details.

Information about the Networking Meeting sessions will be published in the Fira programme (50,000 copies), in the professional catalogue (1,200 copies) and on the Fira website in three languages.

Last year, 1,118 professionals from 582 contracting companies based in 30 different countries attended this performing arts marketplace focusing on Mediterranean roots. The programme included a total of 200 arts activities involving 100 different groups, plus 70 workshops and talks at the Mediterrània Professional Meeting (MPM). Fira Mediterrània of Manresa is organised by Fira Mediterrània Foundation, with the support of the Catalan Government (Generalitat) and Manresa City Council. The official sponsor is La Caixa.
