Fira Mediterrània Manresa (Catalonia – Spain) will be at Showcase Scotland

This week, from 25 to 29 January, Fira Mediterrània de Manresa will be at Showcase Scotland, part of the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow (Scotland) and one of the United Kingdom's biggest folk and world music fairs. Fira will be travelling there with the delegation from Catalonia, this year's guest country, and the six Catalan groups who will be performing at the event: Jordi Molina and Pere Pau Jimènez, Sol i Serena, Las Migas, Lídia Pujol, La Carrau and Domini Màgic.

The 13th Fira Mediterrània, held in November 2010, was the setting for the launch of the collaboration project between Catalan! Music and Celtic Connection-Showcase Scotland. During that year's event, Catalan artists who were keen to take part had the opportunity of showing their latest projects to the Scottish delegation in the Llotja at Fira Mediterrània. A number of Catalan groups and solo artists were selected from this initial contact and subsequent discussions secured their place at Showcase Scotland.

Now in its 15th year, Fira Mediterrània 2012 is due to take place from 6 to 11 November and the period for presenting arts proposals is already open.
