Medimex, the Mediterranean music expo in Bari, Italy, picks the band Evo

The Catalan/Valencian quartet scheduled for the Fira Mediterrània will travel to Italy at the end of November

Medimex, an Italian music expo dedicated to Mediterranean music, has selected the Catalan/Valencian medieval music quartet EVO, one of the submissions presented for Manresa’s Fira Mediterrània to perform at the expo. The performance falls within the collaboration agreement between the Fira Mediterrània and Medimex to internationally promote Catalan and Apulian artists. The second Medimex expo will be held from November 29 to December 2, 2012.

Medimex is a Mediterranean music market that took place for the first time last year in Bari, capital of the Italian region of Apulian. Organized and promoted by Puglia Sounds, the expo was created to foster different artistic and business exchanges between a range of genres, from music’s roots to today’s pop music. Fira Mediterrània was on hand with its own stand throughout the 3 days of showcases at the first Medimax market, which boasted attendance by over 50 journalists, 1300 industry professionals representing 21 countries as well as 50 different bands. Puglia Sounds is one of the industry names that will once again attend Manresa’s Mediterrània Professional Meeting professional marketplace, scheduled to be held for the first time this year at the Museu de la Tècnica. Puglia Sounds will also host a reception for accredited professionals at the Fira Mediterrània, and will be one of 10 speakers in the new marketplace work area: speed-dating, a series of 15 minute meetings between individual buyers and sellers.
