Third Estepa Mediterrània event

Casa de la Música de Manresa presents 11 concerts for the third Estepa Mediterrània event,
chosen from 94 proposals

El Vermell, Ca la Samsona, La Peixera and Stroika, Manresa’s year-round music venues, are set to continue as OFF spaces

For the third consecutive year, Fira Mediterrània will have its own OFF programme, organised by Casa de la Música de Manresa in partnership with Fira Mediterrània de Manresa Foundation. This year’s performers have been chosen from 94 proposals received by the organisers back in the spring. Estepa Mediterrània 2012 consists of a series of 11 night-time concerts featuring a cool range of music for getting out on the floor and dancing. 11 very different acts, with underground and emerging line-ups performing alongside musicians with a long track record, plus local groups rubbing shoulders with multicultural bands. Just like last year, the venues hosting the OFF gigs are Vermell, Ca la Samsona, La Peixera and La Stroika, Manresa’s year-round music nerve centres.
Fira Mediterrània OFF runs from 8 to 10 November. This year’s event will be pursuing the same aims as three years ago, when it was first set up: to rethink, redefine, add to, maybe even rip up the notion of Mediterranean roots. Fira Mediterrània de Manresa is strengthened and enriched with projects that would not normally fit into the official programme but bring a range of innovative and complementary aspects to the Fira discourse.

The overall coordination, programme and technical production are all by Casa de la Música de Manresa, and Fira Mediterrània Foundation contributes towards funding and disseminating the project.
