Paco de Lucía Music for Big Band is a new project dedicated to the musical legacy of Paco de Lucía, reimagining his repertoire through the powerful and sophisticated language of the big band.
Led by Álex Conde — pianist, arranger and musical director — the project brings together an exceptional ensemble created specifically for this unique musical vision: a full big band formation expanded with leading flamenco musicians, including guitars, percussion, flute, trumpet, cante and palmas. This meeting of flamenco and large ensemble writing gives Paco de Lucía’s music a new orchestral dimension, while preserving the energy, rhythm and emotional depth at the heart of his work.
Recorded strictly live during its concert presentation on November 24 at Teatro Albéniz in Madrid, the project captures the intensity, precision and collective power of a one-of-a-kind formation on stage.
With arrangements that expand Paco de Lucía’s universe into a large ensemble format, Paco de Lucía Music for Big Band celebrates one of the most influential figures in flamenco history while opening his music to new audiences, stages and international contexts.
