Anne Lister writes songs, sings them, tells stories and runs workshops. Best known for her song "Icarus", as performed by Martin Simpson among many others, Anne is a warm, engaging performer in her own right and has toured widely in the UK and US with her rich repertoire of tales and songs, her intimate rapport with audiences and her mischievous sense of humour. Her songs are refreshing and original, frequently inspired by a myth or a fairytale, but always with a contemporary twist. One folk club organiser said "It feels as if we've been living inside an illuminated manuscript", while another described the songs as "an iron cosh in a velvet glove". Anne has released six CDs of her songs to date, and she's currently working on a seventh. "Lullaby" is taken from a live recording made at the Redbourn Folk Club in the autumn of 2003.
