Does the name Pavlov's Cat ring a bell? We know about 1904 Nobel Prize winner the Russian physiologist Pavlov & his experiments on dogs but cats are altogether smarter & more cynical. Pavlov's Cat occupy the musical territory fast becoming labelled "Acoustic". fRoots magazine described them as "determinedly acoustic" with "an eye on life's shadowy side".
Their material varies from stripped down arrangements to harder edged, acoustic rock with 3 part vocal harmonies. The set includes articulate original songs by frontman James Hibbins & strong arrangements of traditional English & Irish ballads. James Hibbins provides highly melodic, rolling songs, rhythmic acoustic guitar & rich vocals. Nick Anderson's intelligent bass work shifts from weaving & melodic to a rock solid foundation. New member Jim Read provides understated drums & percussion.
