Known mostly for her work as half of world-pop duo DOBACARACOL (425 concerts in 16 countries, including some of europe, north america and australia's biggest festivals, and well over 100 000 albums sold worldwide of their debut album "SOLEY"), CARACOL, hailing from Montreal, Canada, now presents her first solo release "L'arbre aux parfums", a more mature, personal and introspective album.

The album is built on raw emotion and is a unique blend of american folk, rocksteady, with a singer-songwriter and a vintage "50's" feel and is being likened by some to "Indie-pop" female artists such as Feist and Amy Winehouse.

Principally in french, but also including two english tracks, it's a straight from the heart, no holds-barred expression of the human condition.

Produced by Sebastien Blais-Montpetit ( DJ Champion), and supported by an all-star cast of musicians, Caracol's live show moves seamlessly from stripped down brooding indie-folk to full on band-driven pop songs, taking the studio album to a brand new live experience. Recently selected as "musical revelation of the year" by CBC/RADIO-CANADA, Caracol earned rave reviews for her showcase feb 15th at NACA in Nashville tn, won the european promoters Rideau/Sodec prize 2 nights later at quebec city's Bourse Rideau conference and performed brilliantly at several showcase events, including CMW, SXSW and NXNE before heading off for a short tour in Paris and German festivals in summer 2009, landing her a record release with l'Autre distribution in France in March 2010.

She was given the PRIX MIROIR de l'artiste d'ici at Quebc city summer festival, for best live show by a quebec artist, plays at the prestigious Transmission/Rifflandia festival/conference in Victoria in september, chosen by a special jury to showcase at OCFF in Ottawa in october, and invited to open for Serena Ryder in Canada following her NXNE showcase.
With a gold record, SOCAN's "Songwriter of the Year" award, and world tours across 5 continents to her credit, as part of the world/ pop duo DobaCaracol, Caracol is now poised to reach even greater heights with a Adisq nomination for song of the year (Le Mepris) Juno nomination for "L'arbre Aux Parfums".
