FtO brings together decades worth of experience specialising in grassroots music, experimental sound, orchestras, digital & multimedia projects and live & recorded broadcasts.

Our music festivals include one of the UK’s most venerated independent new- music festivals, Sounds from the Other City and boundary pushing experimental festival Fat Out, which champions alternative and queer music and visual art.

We develop artists through our music residency programme Samarbeta, working closely with Greater Manchester partners including Islington Mill, the University of Salford, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and others to provide adaptable space, resource and creative expertise to help artists realise their ideas and ambition.

In the past 18 months, From the Other have collaborated with, and created projects for, BBC Radio 3, Factory International, Science & Industry Museum Group, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Salford City Council and others, putting community connection, opportunities for artists and high quality creative production at heart of each project.

Fferm Dwyran, Ynys Môn, Cymru.
An old pig farm being renovated into artist accommodation, residency & development spaces providing a place to create and collaborate in nature. Currently being renovated, Fferm Dwyran will offer artists, musicians, writers and creative people a place to come and develop their practise. Our 160m2 barn will offer a multi purpose space to create in, plus access to a recording studio, wood workshop and on site accommodation.
