Gata Brass Band

Gata Brass Band, founded by saxophonist Diego Pecharromán, is an explosive group that combines funk, jazz, and New Orleans music with a special touch of Spanish music. The band, made up of exclusively wind instruments (sax, trumpet, trombone, and sousaphone) and percussion, incorporates beatbox and voice to generate a very original and creative sonority.

Their concerts mix different elements, such as spectacular light effects and surprising stage performances, winning the audience of any age over. The result is a powerful, high-spirited and visual show that allows you to dance and interact with the audience to make them part of the show.

Gata Brass Band presents their compositions with music influences from all over the world. That is, the result of investigation and study of jazz, funk, and New Orleans’ traditional music (Second line) mixed with the influence of other types of music like rock, electronic and mongrel. It brings a unique and authentic flavour to performances which are known for its infectious energy and ability to engage with the audience.

The band hasn’t stopped performing in different Spanish and European clubs and theatres since their debut in the summer of 2018. They have performed in festivals like Copenhaguen Jazz Festival and the Riverboat Jazz Festival (Denmark), the International Festival of Castellón, The International Jazz Festival of Granada ‘Jazz en la costa’, The International Jazz Festival of Almería ‘Almerijazz’, the tour ‘We love jazz’ or the show ‘Ilusionado con el jazz’ in Almería.

In 2021, the band released their first two singles UTOPÍA and GROOCKIN’. In 2022, they released NO PLAN B (FLOW ON) a single in which the protagonist is the beatbox. In 2023, they released SIN MIRAR ATRÁS, which is a spoiler of their new studio album called PARAÍSO, that will be launched in 2023.

Gata Brass Band brings together several generations of highly trained musicians from the Almería jazz scene, with long professional careers and particularly experienced in live performance and in the development of diverse musical projects.

Maturity, innovation, virtuosity and creativity are the basis of this band, which is always looking for fun and interaction with the audience.
