Giannis Zarias

Giannis Zarias is a violinist, composer and artistic director based in Athens, Greece, working across Greek traditional music, rebetiko, Balkan music, jazz, improvisation and contemporary string performance.

At WOMEX 2026, he is presenting three projects: Rebetiko Trio – Skoutas • Mitarakis • Zarias, Frog String Trio and Orchestra Violione. He is also Associate Professor of Traditional Violin Performance at the University of Macedonia, Greece.
