Global Cafe

Derek is a past consultant and associate member of the European Forum of Worldwide Music, Toronto Music Industry Advisory Council, board member of Folk Alliance International, Folk Music Ontario and advisor to numerous organizations. As a volunteer he sits on the Board of Directors of the Toronto Blues Society which produces the biennial Blues Summit, Women's Blues Revue and Maple Blues Awards. Derek has been a mentor to Yasmina Proveyer (Axe Worldfest), Michael Owen (Made With Pencil Crayons / Trade Routes), Sebastian Cook (Grant Guru) and many artist clients including several that have showcased at WOMEX such as Kobo Town, Quique Escamilla, Digging Roots, Jaron Freeman-Fox from Canada.

Derek's consulting work flies under the Global Cafe flag, which adapts to inquires case by case. Breaking down barriers through creative music projects has been a lifelong passion.
