NOT THE AMY WINEHOUSE BAND BUT JUICEBOX FROM AMSTERDAM
How the music-experts were fooled during a music quiz on the Amsterdam tv.. All thought that it was an easy one and agreed that the record the heard was the Amy Winehouse veteran funk band the Dap-Kings.
But it was the Amsterdam boogaloo-formation Juicebox. The song was from their debut album Popcorn 69 that Juicebox taped using non-digital (analogue) equipment and 1960s instruments.
Soon after that we heard the first rumours. But as far we know, Amy sticks with her great band. She has no plans whatsoever to perform with Juicebox when she comes to Holland.
As the Dap-Kings are known for backing Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse, the Amsterdam Jucebox backed Jimmy James and the Blue Flames, Alton Ellis, Rico Rodriquez, Rude Rich and the Brass Babes. We try to find out where the rumour that Winehouse will perform with Juicebox originated. The boys of the band have no idea. We were unable to contact Amy yet, as she didn't pick up the phone.
