Sarah Nemtanu’s artistic career clearly reflects her generous, inquisitive and enterprising personality: her abundant
energy and innovative ideas are reflected in her orchestral work, in chamber music, the creation of festivals and her
presence alongside artists from completely different backgrounds.. She left Bordeaux at the age of sixteen to study
at the CNSM in Paris and thus benefited from two particular influences: that of her father Vladimir, who had studied
in Bucharest with Stefan Gheorghiu, heir to the school of David Oïstrakh, and that of her teacher Gérard Poulet, a
worthy ambassador of the style and elegance of the French violin school.
She was appointed concertmaster of the Orchestre National de France in 2002 and has occupied this position with
great enthusiasm and commitment for the past 20 years. She has also performed as a soloist and chamber
musician on the finest concert podia and in international festivals.
Her love of passing on her knowledge, inherited from her father, is a particularly important part of her musical life.
She has recently been appointed professor of violin at the CNSM in Paris.
