The singer and multi-instrumentalist Majid Bekkas studied classical guitar and oud at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Rabat and learnt Gnaoua music through the teachings of the master Ba Houmane. Gnaoua comes originally from West Africa, the cradle of the Blues, and were deported with the slaves to Morocco. Bekkas started already in the 80th to combine to combine Jazz & Blues with different morccain music styles. Since then, he performed with his own band as well as with well known artists such as Joachim Kühn, Archie Shepp, Bassekou Kouyate, Klaus Doldinger oder Louis Sclavis around the globe.
He is available for concerts in the following line-up: solo, trio, quintet and with different projects.
