Music Crossroads InterRegional Festival
Tomorrow's Stars, Today.

From 29th of April to the 3rd of May - Livingston, Zambia will be bursting with African music as the Music Crossroads InterRegional Festival (IRF) converges on the city!

Up-and-coming young bands from Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe have been selected through national competitions to play at the Music Crossroads IRF, which will be one of the biggest music events in Malawi for 2008.
The Music Crossroads IRF reflects Africa's musical diversity as genres such as ethnic/traditional, pop, rock, hip-hop – and all imaginable mixes in between will be heard.

The event will kickoff with the Malawian national semi-finals and finals complimented by local and international guest performances.
The grand finale on the third day is where the bands from the five countries will compete for the 2008 title and some incredible prizes.
These include the opportunity for individual musicians to participate in the international folk music camp, Ethno, in Sweden; a professional
three-week tour for a band in the Swedish Musik Direkt festivals; live performances on the radio, studio time and musical instruments.
The grand prize for the winning group is the highly sought after European tour, the IRF champions will travel across more than eight European countries, performing at some of Europes most popular festivals as well as JMI member events.

In true festival style, all music activities will be supplemented with Relationship Workshops on HIV/ Aids as well as well as artist building workshops. This year's focus is on empowering young female musicians and giving them the skills they need to take on a male dominated industry.

The organizers hope that you will all join us in Lilongwe to enjoy and celebrate African music at its best!
