Kamafei is a band performing ethnomusic from Salento (south of Italy).The traditional Salentinian music style is called "pizzica-pizzica" and it is built on the frenzied rhythm of the tambourine. Kamafei put together "pizzica-pizzica" with other Mediterranean traditional music styles but also modern genres such as reggae, dub, rock, flamenco and hip hop, creating an ingenious fusion.

Meeting distant music cultures is obviously hard, but also challenging and intriguing.. Never forgetting the respect of tradition, Kamafei also make use of technology, with no exaggeration, but keeping a harmonious musical balance.

The stronger are the links with the origins the more intensively you can work on the tradition and create something different, provocative, revolutionary at the same time.

Kamafei's show is entertaining, surprising, and it draws the audience in thanks to the overwhelming rhythm of the pizzica contaminated by the Mediterranean sounds.
