After two albums, Elastic Borders in 2019 and Streets in 2022, the Etienne Manchon Trio unveils its new project, Weird Life. Piano, double bass, drums and keyboards blend into music on the borderlands of jazz, rock and film music.
Finely crafted, tailor-made original compositions for a band with boundless energy, whose favorite playground is undoubtedly the live stage!
Weird Life is a wordless ode to all the oddities of a touring musician's life. Deeply exhilarating as it is, this life is also filled with surprising routines and sometimes picturesque surprises. From an irritating ad at a highway rest stop to a podcast episode heard on a train, by way of a weather forecast, the Etienne Manchon Trio tells the story of an everyday life that can sometimes fuel plenty of fantasies.
Musically, the trio takes us into its world of progressive jazz, which evokes wide-open spaces as well as smoky clubs, and admires Bill Evans as much as Lizzy McAlpine and Tame Impala.
With some sixty concerts behind them and two nationally acclaimed albums, the three musicians take us aboard a new creation, driven by daring, high-flying compositions and wrapped in infectious humor and an ever-undiminished generosity.
