Guilhem Desq turns the hurdy-gurdy, a medieval instrument, into a timeless orchestra with ingenuity and a touch of electronics. Nicknamed the "Hendrix of the hurdy-gurdy", he started playing at the age of eight, thanks to his father, a seasoned hurdy-gurdy luthier.
Drawing his energy from the instrument's tradition but inspired mainly by modern music and improvisation, Desq moves freely between European folk, Middle-Eastern music, rock, hip-hop, electro, heavy metal and house. His music is like the soundtrack of an imaginary film: an electric odyssey across fantasy lands where places, times and feelings blend together.
A virtuoso on the road, he travels the world telling stories with his instrument, and has built a loyal online following, with millions of views on his videos.
