Odd it is. A violin-cello duo, a generation apart, playing very virtuosic Bulgarian tunes, fast and intense compositions with their complement of chops, asymmetrical rhythms, improvised harmonies and flashy solos, carried at a boil by brilliant violinist Gaja Sušelj and inventive cellist Toby Kuhn. They descend to a simmer in slower, more contemplative and emotional pieces, to better blow away their audience with plucked showpieces. The whole is served on a bed of enthusiasm and boundless energy, a show unlike anything else.
