Taraf Dékalé : Balkan Music, Jazz-Rock, Trip-Hop

One of the flagship bands from the Tire-Laine music collective (Lille, France), TARAF DÉKALÉ is a rarity : an eleven-piece orchestra composed of supercharged musicians who share their very personal vision of world music in a two-hour set of original compositions.

This peculiar « taraf » (a traditional tzigani orchestra) mixes accordion and violin with banjo, saturated guitars, explosive horns, and a rhythm section backed by scratch and live sampling.

The band’s leader, virtuoso saxophonist Yann Deneque, carries out his vision of what TARAF DÉKALÉ’s music should be : tremendously raw, irresistibly sensitive and universally contagious.

AZADI, their latest record, is a unique creation, connecting the Balkan side of the Mediterranean Sea to New York’s East River, inviting you to tag along for an unforgettable trip.
