Emilia Lajunen (born 1979) is a well-known professional Finnish folk musician, known for her personal, strong, and modern style of playing the violin. Her style of playing claims its origins in ancient heritage and fiddler music. From 2010 Lajunen has occupied the position of the Violin Techer-in-charge in the folk music department of Sibelius Academy. Lajunen graduated as doctor of music from Sibelius Academy University of the Arts 2023. Her artistic doctoral studies consisted of four concerts and written thesis, combining elements of dance and theatre to her own musicianship. From that artistic research was born Lajunen´s second solo album Deep in the Dregs: The Lecacy of the Dead (Nordic Notes 2023).

Lajunen´s instruments are the 5-string violin, kontrabasharpa and nyckelharpa. She is a singing member in such groups as Juuri & Juuri: Scandinavian root´s music duo, Ritva Nero, Duo Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala: Chamber Folk Music. Duo Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala were selected as one of WOMEX official showcase artists in 2019 after their second album’s release [’Piilokisa’ by Nordic Notes] in 2018. Duo´s third album 'Toisjalkainen' was released 2024 by Nordic Notes. During their career they have actively performed at various stages in Finland and abroad in the Nordic countries, India and even South Korea.
