Born in a small town nearby Brasília - Brazil, Claudinho da Viola lost his vision when he was 3 years old, as a victim of smallpox. Surrounded by popular and traditional rhythms and beats, as "folia de reis", "curraleira", "lundu" and "catira", Claudinho grew up developing an incredible talent playing "viola caipira", the 10-string Brazilian guitar which is a cultural symbol of Brazil's central region. He started to play with the cultural local groups, and soon he was performing with local and regional artists in small and medium events. His intimacy with the instrument, besides his immense creativity composing instrumental songs, turned into an album during last year, which was released with a concert in Brasília.
This turned him into the first visual deficient with an instrumental viola caipira CD, which has been contributing to take him out of anonymity, as deserved.
