The traditional "caipira duo", with 42 years of career, many national awards and one indication for the Latin Grammy (2019), Zé Mulato & Cassiano are, certainly, the most authentic living representation of the Brazilian "caipira music" gender. Many people think that this is the same kind of music known as "música sertaneja", which is a Brazilian musical gender that exploded in the whole world during the last decade. But for the original "caipiras", there's nothing to compare between their art, culture and music and this "sertanejo" product, which is made by and for the big markets.
The simplicity, the closeness to nature and the bucolic with a smart way of understanding the world and the human kind, and also the great ability of both artists composing, singing and playing, makes them a musical and cultural relic of Brazil's central region.
In 2018 the duo achieved the grand honor of having their songs arranged by maestro Joaquim França, generating a one-time spectacle with the Symphonic Orchestra of Claudio Santoro National Theater (Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Cláudio Santoro - OSTNCS - Brasília/DF), celebrating their 40th career anniversary, released in 2019 as a DVD. The result is a very unique and beautiful piece that incorporates the traditional and the classical music production.
