Over the years, M’Toro Chamou has forged a unique and personal music style he baptised Afro M’Godro Rock ; a tribute to traditional rhythms from his native island, Mayotte.
He thereby mixes the classic patterns of M’Godro, Shigoma or Chengué styles, together with western blues-rock sounds. In a geopolitical context that could be described as tensed, this is his way to create new vibrations and exhort people to come together instead of being torn by politics.
Hence, his recently released album is called Sika Mila (which means “preserve your culture”) : a manner for him to highlight the fast-changing mahoran culture and spread a message of hope and unity.
Get ready for a powerful set, with coloured groove, intense voice and spiced guitar !
