Five piece Bangla Folk/Rock band perform acoustic and electric folk music with Bengali lyrics. In Bangladesh they have enjoyed considerable success. They have three albums and over a dozen singles to their discography.

Formed in 2002 during leader Sumi’s university years, Chirkutt carved out a solid reputation in the music scene of Bangladesh with their energetic live performances and powerful lyrics penned by Sumi herself. Despite their exotic sound, they are immensely popular among mainstream audiences. Chirkutt is one of the only female-fronted fusion-driven rock bands of Bangladesh, and the band enjoys an active international presence as well.

Chirkutt’s international journey began when they were invited to attend the prestigious India Music Week festival in 2012, followed by the Jaffna Music Festival in Sri Lanka. Chirkutt toured with Norwegian rockers Casa Murilo in 2013. They were the first Bangladeshi band to perform at the President House Concert in India by invitation.

Furthermore, Chirkutt has collaborated with several international artists in various productions, such as Norway’s Casa Murilo and the New York-based Latin band 24 Horas, the music video for the latter of which earned them an award in 2016.
