The late Saxophonist, Robbie Jansen, was an all round entertainer and band leader of the Sons of Table Mountain. He was one of the original members of Abdullah Ebrahim's Mannenberg outfit. Robbie Jansen was at home on a number of wind instruments and had a powerful soul voice. He combined elements of his roots in pre-colonial Africa, slave history and modern jazz/rock in his music. For health reasons Robbie could not tour and confined his live work to single concert dates in South Africa. He died in 2010. He made 3 albums for Mountain Records.
