"Nordic Route" is a new cd by mandolin/guitar player Petri Hakala & accordion player Markku Lepistö from Finland.

"Our second cd consists of all original material. The influences of the musical paths of both of us are fused together. From Canadian French to South America, through Ireland to Central Europe without forgetting Scandinavia. We are still on the tracks of the old masters in our own way" says Hakala about the contents.

"The recording was made in a home environment because we both had a strong vision of how our instruments should sound. On the other hand, our first cd " On the tracks of the old masters " ( 2001 ) was made in a similar manner. We have a strong mutual feel of how our duo should sound " continues Lepistö.

Petri Hakala (b. 1962 ) is a versatile player of various mandolin family instruments, guitar and fiddle. He has played in numerous folk music ensembles starting mid 80s. Maria Kalaniemi & Aldargaz, Ottopasuuna, Helsinki Mandoliners, Erik Hokkanen & Lumisudet and Korkkijalka for example. In addition to the recordings of the bands mentioned he has released two solo records: " Kirjo " ( 1999 ) and " Trad. " ( 2007 ).

Markku Lepistö (b. 1963 ) has graduated 2016 from the Sibelius Academy Doctorate program. His thesis was based on the possibilities of the diatonic accordions, the historical accordion music of the nineteenth century in addition to performing original music. During his career he has been part of many well known folk music groups such as Värttinä, Doina Klezmer and the european accordion quartet Samurai Accordion without forgetting the duos with the organ player Mikko Helenius and a bass player Pekka Lehti.
Five solo cd:s Silta (2002), Polku (2006), Tupasoitto (2009), New Voices (2016) ja SOLOS (2018).
