Renowned as ambassadors of Francophonie, Le Vent du Nord is also largely acknowledged as a key group in Quebec’s traditional folk music revival. Since their beginnings in August 2002 the band have enjoyed growing success - touring world-wide and selling a remarkable 52,000 albums. With each new album the band has broken new ground and combined with their deep musicianship and entertaining stage presence have consistently won over fans around the world.
Tromper le temps [“Fooling Time”] is as much a statement as an observation. Here we find four thirty-something musicians exploring and playing with music of yesterday, today, and possible tomorrows. The album features a sound that has found its identity over the course of a decade spent on the road, with the band playing more than 1,000 concerts in North America and Europe.
On Tromper le temps, Le Vent du Nord are pushing their own limits and exploring vocal harmonies and textures – sometimes atmospheric, sometimes straight ahead, but always musical. Through the course of the 13 stories recorded here the band takes us on a trip through several historical periods. The lyrics and poetic scenes that have marvelously survived the passage of time are wonderfully pertinent to our present day realities, socially, politically and personal. Le Vent du Nord have received numerous awards in the course of their first decade. In the spring of 2011, they won their second Juno Award for their previous studio album La Part du Feu.
