Los de Abajo captivated the ear of David Byrne in 1998, as a result, the founding member of Talking Heads signed the group and released his first production with Lusaka Bop, the Scottish's company based in New York city.

The launch of Los de Abajo (1998), namesake material eclectic musicians, meant not only the recording debut of interpreters Pepepez - promo single - but the internationalization of an outstanding career. Produced by David Byrne himself and Greg Ladanyi, producer of Toto (L. A.).

After these launch the band was invited to participate in the WOMEX Festival in Rotterdam and began the first of 17 international tours, including All Europe, Canada, USA, Singapore, Japan, Abu Dhabi, New Zealand and Australia.

Cybertropic Chilango Power was released in 2002, produced by the superstar spanish singer Macaco, the second album of the band was credited one of the World Music Awards, an award bestowed by the BBC, in the "Americas". The artists received the award in 2003. This album also under the label Luaka Bop.

Latin Ska Force (2003), LP number three in history of these now international musicians, was conceived independently, great personalities of the Mexican scene helped the project. Only in Mexico City, this item sold more than 50 thousand copies.

Edited by Kufala Recordings, Complete & Live in L. A. (2004) captures the energy of the live band. This concert was held at Grand Performances, California, before an audience of more than 10 thousand people.

Peter Gabriel and his label, Real World Records, get interested in have Los de Abajo inside their catalogue. Signed for they and the guys of Temple of Sound and Neville Staple joined the team in 2005, Neil Sparks and Nick Page produced Los de Abajo vs. The Lunatics, while The Specials, lent his voice and one of the most emblematic songs of his career to the fifth album of the Mexicans.

With vs. The Lunatics, Los de Abajo were invited to Later with Jools Holland, BBC importantly, where they shared the issue with Artic Monkeys.

In 2006 the group focused on No Borrar‡n (The Box) album, whose release triggered one of the most extensive tours made __by established artists in their country of origin.
2008 was the year for the ALICIA live album, recorded in the legendary underground club in Mexico City.

With marked referents of traditional Mexican music, co-produced and mixed by Sandy Hoover and the multi Grammy Award Winner David Banta, Actitud calle (2010) was cooked by them in California studies and materialized as the seventh seal of the band.

On 2014 the album MARIACHI BEAT was released by Flowfish Records in Germany.

In this year 2018, Los de Abajo get together with the founding members Yocu Arellano, Damian Portugal, and Javier Zuniga and injected with energy, creativity and artistic maturity, Los de Abajo preparing the debut of the new album ARRIBA.

The festival highlights of the band are UK Glastonbury, DK Roskilde, HU Sziget, NZ Womad, CA Montreal Jazz Festival, CH Paleo & Gurten Festivals, S Festimad, B Pole Pole Festival, Seattle Boombershot Festival, NY LAMC Festival, MX Vive Latino, AUS Bacardi Festival among others.
