The Aguamadera story begins in 2015 in Buenos Aires when Marco Grancelli and Maria Cabral met in the choir Cuerdo Vocales. Realising their shared passion for South American folklore they started performing together, blending fleet-fingered dexterity on guitar and cuatro with their impressively intertwining voices on lovingly refreshed arrangements of classic songs from the rich seed-bed of Argentine chacarera, zamba or huayno, Venezuelan joropo, merengue, gaita zuliana, and Peruvian waltz. They recorded their first album in 2017 and took to the road in Europe, eventually settling in the south of France. They returned to Buenos Aires in 2022 to record their third album, Las Historias que Han Dejado, under the artistic direction of famed Chilean artist Elizabeth Morris, which marks their fully-fledged development as composers, forging their own characteristic sound from their folkloric inspirations.
