Geraldine MacGowan Keeper of the flame in Irish Folk song

A Dubliner, and voice of the popular traditional group Oisin; having toured the World extensively for the last two decades, with numerous Oisin Albums and three solo CD's to her credit, returns to the stage with a combination of musicians whose talents cross all borders.
2007 Geraldine is celebrating her thirstiest anniversary as a touring and recording artist and she is commemorating this by the best of album "Through the years". The album is carefully selected from 4 of the historic OISIN recordings and her 4 solo CDs. The OISIN recordings are featuring some of Ireland's best known performers, who at the time were members of OISIN such as Davy Spillane on pipes, Paddy Glacking on fiddle, Anne Conroy Burke on accordion, Brian McDonagh on mandolin, Steve Cooney on guitar and many many more.
Her latest solo recordings feature one of the most innovative musicians Ireland has to offer, Brian O'Connor, to the "Young musician of the year 2000", Eamonn de Barra, on to one of the most sought after Guitarists in Ireland today, Shane Mc Gowan, they are "The Geraldine Mac Gowan Band". The quality, honesty and sheer rawness of this ensemble will undoubtedly instil a sense of Irishness in the listener.
Geraldine's solo albums are a rare and beautiful collection of songs, from the vaults of Irish Tradition, to the wealth of modern-day storytellers, together with newly written compositions from long time collaborator Brian O'Connor, all delivered with the confidence and grace of a true musical traveller. "Through the years" album has a beautiful Digipack packaging and carefully compiled booklet with a lot of information. The historic OISIN recordings taken from vinyl albums were re-mastered at a high standard and blend now perfectly with the materials taken from the more recently recorded solo CDs.
