Situated at south of Iran at the borders of Persian Gulf, the province of Bushehr is limited to some parts of Khuzestân and Kohgiluye-o-Boyerahmad from north, to Fârs from east and northeast, to certain portion of Hormozgân from southeast, and to Persian Gulf form south. From a long ago, this whole region has been the passage way or house of many various peoples of different races and cultures. In Bushehr, there live such distinct peoples as Fârs's, Arabs, Lor's, and Turks (Qashqâyi's) together with more recent generations of migrants and African slaves. Nearly everywhere all around the province, the local patois have mingled with Persian. Yet, in a number of regions as Kangân, Asaluye, and the Shif island Arabic prevails.
Apart from the religious music of Bushehr with its own separate performance contexture and extensive repertoire, most rituals, rites and ceremonies as well as many various forms of non-religious music of the province lucidly contain manifestations and themes concerning religious beliefs. This as an aspect is, in addition, observed in weddings, festivities and their music, and songs commonly performed.
