Inviting you to discover the wild hidden music from Zakarpattia, the spectacularly attired Hudaki Village Band aim to ensure you have an uproariously good time while doing it. They hail from and extol the virtues of Maramorosh, a mountainous area of southwestern Ukraine on the border with Romania and Hungary, where different ethnic musical influences have shaped a unique, multi-faceted set of traditions. Slavic vocal tradition, Romanian melodies, Jewish rhythms and Roma temperament have merged into a local crossover music, the result of centuries of peaceful coexistence. The Hudaki Village Band is an inter-generational ensemble fielding clarinet, cimbalom, fiddle, guitars, contrabass and two shining singers, interpreting a deep traditional repertoire with panache and humour. Established in 2001, they have appeared at major festivals throughout Europe. Now back on the road in 2021. Enjoy!
