La Casbah is a unique music ensemble based in Israel whose members share a deep connection to North African music from Algeria and Morocco. As descendants of Jewish immigrants from Algeria and Morocco, they share the goals of preserving and reinterpreting the different musical textures of the area and painting them with their own musical language, combining both traditional and modern sounds.
Yohai Cohen
A prominent singer, composer, percussionist & mandole player. Born and raised in Safed, Israel to a family of immigrants from Morocco, Yohai is a master singer of North African music. He has toured across Morocco, USA, Europe, and Australia and performed with many of the most important musicians of the genre, including Omar Metioui (Morocco), Rav Haim Louk, Mark Eliyahu, Zohar Fresco, Yemen Blues (WOMEX showcase).
