Fanta Soundioulou Cissokho

"Griot" of modern times *

Fanta Soundioulou Cissoko was born in Dakar on 12 februar 1975, the youngest daughter of royal couple Soundioulou Cissokho and diva Mahawa Kouyaté. she developed an early fascination for music. At just 4 years of age, she began singing before taking her first steps and revealing her talent as a singer, influenced by her mother Mahawa Kouyaté, whom she imitated. Indeed, during school parties, she would often launch into imitations and cover the songs of her mother, the Senegalese diva of Guinean origin.


At the age of 16, Fanta, Soundioulou's youngest daughter, was no exception to the custom. She was six years old when her famous grandfather, renowned throughout the musical world as a great kora player, passed away. But Fanta Cissokho lives with the memory of her grandfather, because she “has been told his story”.

After making her musical debut in 2005, the young woman trained at the École Nationale des Arts, learning the rudiments of guitar, piano and... kora. Even if she doesn't yet excel at mastering this traditional instrument, like her grandfather did.

At the age of 18, from this family base, she had her own artistic destiny to write.


She immigrated to Barcelona in Spain.
At present, Fanta has decided to pursue a career in Mandingo music
by creating a concept called “les griots du temps” with talented musicians
musicians who play traditional sounds and Manding songs with modern instruments.
She has released a lovely video in which she pays tribute to her father, the late Soundioulou Cissokho, the King of the Kora, with the beautiful, smooth, melodious voice she has taken from the great Diva of Manding song.

Opinions are unanimous that the beautiful Senegalese has what it takes to become a star. Indeed, with her extraordinary voice, Fanta has no difficulty in confirming her status.
