The partnership the Brazilian music producer, Gerson da Conceição, based in São Paulo, and Fabio Assis, aka, Jahgun, based in Los Angeles has yielded this new reggae project. In 2015, they have their first USA tour playing in many cities in California and playing at the largest reggae festival in LA, Reggae on the Mountain. Rockars is a project that revisits the scene old school Jamaican reggae with a sip of Brazilian roots rhythms of the contemporaneous scene.
The album "Unconditional Love" is the group first album and it carried authorial repertoire composed by the leaders and music direction by Conceição Gerson who also signed for arrangements and lyris that brings up issues of civil rights and violence against human rights, a notorious issues today. In the US tour the group counted with great participation of the leader of the Jamaican legendary reggae band, The Third World.
This year New Rockars is presented at Womex at booth 2.41 with the Brazilian crew, so all can check the songs.
AFRO CAFÉ CAPOEIRA
To complete the proposal, Producer Gerson da Conceição, decided to show this year to Womex community one more of his work. Afro Café Capoeira, a project that shows appreciation of Brazilian-African cultural heritage, mixing the African-Brazilian rhythms such as Jongo, tambor of Creola, samba de roda and maracatu all from different regions; and he then mixes all up with African pop music, carrying strong influences of Afrobeat. The repertoire copyright songs highlighting the Gerson Conceição partnerships with Otto and Zeca Baleiro, among others.
