Delighted by the richness and diversity of Europe’s musical culture, five Polish students of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague decided to found the ensemble Mitomani. Their repertoire consists of well-known melodies in their own arrangements, as well as improvised and illustrative music. Along with outstanding instrumental skills, the musicians have an innovative attitude towards the folk style. They try to attract their listeners’ attention by an intriguing musical energy…

Mitomani has been performing since November 2012. From the very beginning, the ensemble has played music in multiple styles: folk sounds are often interspersed between jazz, free improvisation or classic virtuoso passages. During a concert, one can hear klezmer or balkan melodies, songs from the 20’s, canticles from northern Poland or even avant-garde contemporary music.

In June 2013, Mitomani had its successful festival debut: on the Olsztyn’s Festival Warmio moja miła, the ensemble won the Golden Diploma and a number of special prizes. Since then, La Mythomanie has been performing on festivals, vernissages, dance workshops or private concerts, mainly in the Netherlands and in Poland. Recently the group participated in International Jewish Music Festival (Internationaal Joods Muziek Festival) in Amsterdam, where Mitomani achieved two prizes: the Simcha Prize for the most promising band and a contract for CD with the Dutch record label – Pan Records.
