Monda

Monda is a folk group created to work the music of southern Portugal.
With a clear approach to the new musical trends, without barriers or borders, MONDA collective created a contemporary folk music, mixing the traditional compositions with its own new sounds.
Between each of our cultural and musical roots, stops and different learning, there is a common space, the Alentejol (southern of Portuga), land where exist the natural desire to sing and play the origins.
The international aspect is assumed as a priority, in the search for new audiences and in the dissemination of a heritage of a people capable of embracing and absorbing new territories.
MONDA first album, published in two thousand sixteen, was awarded by the public and critics. Produced by renowned pianist Ruben Alves, it had special guests appearances, like Rui Veloso or Katia Guerreiro.
A new album was released in April 2019 and will feature again guest musicians from the United States, passing through Jordania and obviously by some top portuguese musicians, like Maro. After several shows in the national territory, it is time to cross borders and take on the role that the MONDA today represent, of the great ambassadors of new portuguese folk music.
