There are few women in the world music scene who exude as much charisma as Mercedes Peon. The Spaniard is one of the most internationally renowned protagonists of Galician neo-folk. She herself plays the traditional Galician tambourine pendeireta, but also the bagpipes - both of which she masters with virtuosity. In her compositions, she processes complex polyrhythms from the oldest tradition and lets them swell into eclectic and starkly vibrating themes. Her profound repertoire, the magic but also the charged atmosphere that flows through each of her performances make her one of the strongest voices of contemporary ethnic music in Europe.

Mercedes Peón performs together with the musicians Mónica de Nut (bass, keyboards), Lucía Martínez (drums) and, for the first time, with the string ensemble of the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Tom Jahn.
