“EthnoMechanica” is an international world music festival in St.Petersburg, Russia. The festival is a project of Sergey Kuryokhin Foundation and takes place in Sergey Kuryokhin modern art center since 2008.

“EthnoMechanica” introduces to Russian audience diversity of world music, welcoming experiment and synthesis. The festival keeps on extending its national and musical geography. “Ethnomechanica” perfectly combines Altai throat singing kai and Sami throat singing yoik, Klezmer and hip-hop, Balkan beat and baile-funk, Ukrainian folk and African rhythms, digital cumbia and Uzbek pop, turbo-folk and dancehall, Bollywood hits and Tadzhik folk.


This year we propose to our visitors : jazz afro-beat band Jimi Tenor & Kabu Kabu (Finland, Germany, Ghana, Cuba), Klezmer& hip-hop magician Socalled (Canada), Balkan breaks duo Shazalakazoo (Serbia), queens of Balkan dancehall Las Balkanieras (Germany, Bosnia, Croatia, Russia), ethno-chaos quartet DakhaBrakha (Ukraine), mad tunes from DJ Penny Metal (UK), rumba-ska-Klezmer band Karl Hlamkin and OgneOpasnoOrchestra (Russia), tojuks singer Stepanida Borisova (Russia), Russian folk& trans band Theodor Bastard (Russia), gypsy jazz quintet Chance-On Manouche (Russia), neo-folk ensamble Reelroad (Russia), Klezmer rock'n'roll trio Naekhovichi (Russia), Uzbek pop band Obmorok Imama (Uzbekistan, Russia), folkotronic duo Velena (Russia), singer of Bollywood hits in Tadzhik style Baimurat aka Jimmy (Tajikistan), radical chanson combo Chumaho Dryu (Russia), ethno-punk band Ankylym (Russia), funk &soul Dj Сhak (Russia) and others.

Besides musical program, the festival presents world cinema, workshops, vj-ing.

"EthnoMechanica" is supported by the Committee of Culture of Saint-Petersburg, foreign embassies and cultural foundations.
