WHAT THEY SAY
"WÖR’s arrangements are finely textured, their performance exuberant"
Julian May - Songlines Magazine

"Wör's album is brilliant. It's very exciting to hear a young band reinterpreting old manuscripts in a refreshing and new way"
Sam Sweeney - BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician Of The Year 2015

“They’re all astonishing musicians, coaxing fantastic sounds out of their chosen instruments. But more than this, they craft intricate and fresh arrangements for each piece.”
Stephen D. Winnick – Huffington Post

“There's great life in these tunes, and the band knows how to bring that out. The tunes sparkle with a mischevious life after the dust of two centuries is blown off them.”
Devon Leger, KithFolk Magazine/Hearth Music

WHAT THEY ARE
WÖR comes up with some of the most imaginative treatments of traditional music. With their finely-textured arrangements the Belgian folk quintet WÖR injects fresh energy into 18th-century tunes from Flanders. Their music shines an inventive spotlight, with a modern twist, on tunes from the old manuscripts of collectors such as De Gruijtters (Antwerp, 1746), Van Belle (Van Belle, 1743), De Prins (Leuven, 1781) and many more.

Their two first albums, "Back to the 1780’s" (2015) and "Shttt" (2017) have received rave reviews across Europe and the U.S.

Their new album " About Towers" (2020) is coming soon, and is full of good surprises. Once again, the band is demonstrating a clear ability to put a modern twist into the playing and performance of old material.

And if you’d like to know exactly how timeless and festive their music can get, there’ll be a chance for audiences to catch them live this winter (check the tour agenda on their website at http://www.wearewor.com/live)
