For Música Creativa de Colombia it is an honor to represent Las Alegres Ambulancias “The joyful Ambulances”: one of the most important institutions of Colombian Caribbean music. Legendary group that keeps “Palenque” tradition alive since the 1940s. Their music, art, and history that goes back 500 years ago, makes the “alegres” one of the happiest phenomena – in all senses – of our culture.

Currently, as in the past, the leader of the group is Batata – on this occasion Tomás Teherán: Batata V – who, with the old singers and young bearers of legends, stories and songs that belong to the African culture established in Colombia a long time ago, present an artistic proposal with a wide repertoire of traditional and Colombian Caribbean music. Including rhythms of Lumbalú, Bullerengue, Batatón, Zuku Palenquero, Chalupa, Sextet, Pajarito, Cumbia, Chande, Fandango, Porro, among others, accompanied by traditional and contemporary instruments. Living Musical Wonder; World Heritage!
