Diversity is Chris Poole (flute) & Kasper Søeborg's (guitar) latest release. It is dedicated to the internationally known tabla player, their friend Nantha Kumar, who unfortunately died far too soon in 2022. Nantha Kumar can be heard on the majority of the album's tracks and contributes in this way with his very last recordings. Niels Engelbrecht Sørensen and Lars Bo Kujahn can also be heard on the release on congas and percussion respectively.
Can music be “green”? What does organic music sound like? Music that has grown naturally over many years? Chris Poole & Kasper Søeborg are two very experienced musicians who have had a long-standing collaboration. Both are passionate about sustainable living. Scandinavian nature, ecological house on the Danish island of Møn and a torp in Sweden with meetings in the vibrant life of Copenhagen, as well as lots of musical journeys around the globe: From Madrid and Greenland to Venice and Tunisia and El Hierro. And it can be heard in their music!
"Chris Poole and Kasper Søborg's music is very much alive. Just watching their mutual communication is a pleasure. The music itself contains elements of Spanish flamenco and jazz, but many of the duo's pieces are also inspired by Møn's nature and have titles such as Night Owl Blues, Ulvshale Winter Samba and Hymn to Møn. It all sounds so beautiful”
Karen Syberg, visual artist and author
“They simply complement each other perfectly.” (Jazz Special)
Diversity contains 12 of the duo's newest compositions. It is instrumental music, World-Jazz, that creates inner images and tells stories.
Diversity will be available on all streaming platforms from Monday, October 21, 2024. The album was recorded in Cyborg Studio and produced by Kasper Søeborg.
