Line up

  • Leonar Donado (Piano and Keyboards)
  • Obert López (Double Bass)
  • Rodrigo Villalón (Drums)
  • Tomás Teherán (Percussion)

These four artists have decided to come together to make a majestic fusion possible, embracing Jazz with a different look. Leonardo Donado Cazimba Cuarteto manages to open the senses with a authentic explosion of sounds, making listeners immerse themselves in a journey through the musical history of the Colombian Caribbean interpreted from a new perspective.

The virtuosity of each of its members is visible in its staging. Leonardo Donado at the piano, composer and leader of the band, educated in Cuba in all the necessary and proven aspects of technical quality and sound; Tomás Teherán, percussionist from birth, heir to the Batata dynasty of Saint Basilio of Palenque, filling with identity and flavor with the rhythms that he imposes when playing the drums; Rodrigo Villalón, export drummer and cultural manager, trained in Germany, with a world tour alongside great artists of the jazz scene where he knows how to show his versatility and creativity; and the great Obert López in the double bass, whose footprint in numerous and diverse themes of the Colombian Caribbean coast musical collection should be highlighted and, for more than 20 twenty years, shared the musical career of Joe Arroyo, to whom, in addition, a special tribute is paid with the music of this quartet.

Leonardo Donado Cazimba Cuarteto offers us a repertoire with songs where every Colombian can feel identified and, in a subtle way, manages to touch the most deep of our identity. Famous songs like “La Piragua”, “Mary” and “Rebelión”, are part of it, reinterpreted through Jazz.
This project also has immersed a musical research work, focused on the Palenque culture, which seeks to present a product loaded with national history and that exalts our already rich musical tradition of the Colombian Caribbean.
