‘These songs are naked. They have no words, no vocals, no rhythm section. They are guitar solos
and duos, sometimes slightly amplified. Most are created in the late hours of the night, born and
nurtured in the long, quiet nights of the pandemic. The tunes distil over 50 years of folk, blues
and rock roots, long-missed classical and jazz training and decades of immersion in African
fingerpicking guitar traditions. They aim to soothe, stimulate, provoke and inspire collaboration
with others who may one day help dress their nakedness.’ Banning Eyre
Banning Eyre is one of the finest guitarists and his music is utterly magical. Specialized in African
guitar playing, learning from masters while traveling around the African continent to discover
hidden gems, Eyre took his time not only to describe the music in his books and productions for
the U.S. radio program Afropop Worldwide; he also learned local guitar techniques to
perfection.
His way of playing is spiritual, intimate, dreamy. Once you start listening to his solo guitar
playing, you don’t want to let go, as your soul gets warmed by the comforting circles woven into
