Roshambo is the second album by Slovak violinist and composer Barbora Botošová, released in 2023. It’s a vibrant world music fusion project that blends Romani, Slovak, Balkan, jazz, rock, and electronic influences. All songs are sung in Romani, reflecting Botošová’s deep connection to her cultural roots. Barbora’s aim was to prove that Romani music is not just folklore or common stereotypes about colorful skirts. Romani music has real depth — it can connect with any musical style while always preserving its authenticity.
Musically, Roshambo moves freely between gypsy jazz, flamenco, dubstep, swing, and rock elements, creating a colorful and contemporary sound. The production, crafted with her brother Eugen Botoš, is polished yet soulful, emphasizing strong musicianship and emotional expression.
Overall, Roshambo stands as a celebration of cultural fusion, bridging traditional Roma and Slovak sounds with global modern styles — a testament to the power of music as a universal language.
