Diogo Ramos is a singer-songwriter from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Ramos’ music is part of a long
tradition of Brazilian folk singers. Having studied music, particularly guitar, since the age of 13 –
Ramos has been working professionally for 25 years as a music producer, having released 20
albums between composition and production.
In 2010, Ramos left Brazil to settle in Montreal where he obtained a Bachelor of Music in Guitar
Performance from the University of Quebec in Montreal. He has made his mark on the Montreal
music scene, collaborating with artists such as Yves Lambert, Bïa, Imposs, Paulo Ramos,
Boogát, Flavia Nascimento, Rommel Ribeiro, Blanche Baillargeon, amongst others.
2018 sees the release of Ramos’ conceptual album "Samba sans Frontières" , where he pays
tribute to his country of adoption through the interpretation of the works of Gilles Vigneault, Félix
Leclerc andPierre Perreault.
His own compositions where Portuguese and French intertwine are a true statement of his rich
cultural background..
His single Liberté je t’aime released in 2020 during the pandemic travel around the world. The
year 2021 takes a new turn with the collaboration of several artists , which offers a mix of samba
funk and electro hip-hop.
A recipient of the Council of Arts and Letters of Quebec (CALQ) Research and Creation
Fellowship 2021 and 2017.
In 2020, Ramos has also received the Montreal Arts Council’s Coup de Coeur award, and
MAtv’s Coup de Coeur award at the 2017 MUZ Festival (Vision Diversity) – a tribute to world
music in Montreal.
Diogo received the 2019 Cumplices award from MAI (Montréal Arts Interculturels). He was
winner of the Vinicius de Moraes Prize, at 16 years as a performing guitarist.
