Grupo Semente (Group Seed, in direct translation).
Is one of the most important samba groups.
It began in 1998, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and was formed to play with the famous samba singer, Teresa Cristina.
With her, the group recorded many CDs and DVDs, and made several shows in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, Amsterdam, New Delhi, and many other cities.
Besides playing with Teresa Cristina and other artists, like Paulinho da Viola, Marisa Monte and Roberta Sá, the group always had a career of its own, and in 2014, released its first “solo” CD, also called “Grupo Semente”. In 2015, the album was nominated by the 26º Premio da Música Brasileira (Brazilian Music Prize) as best samba CD and best samba group, and Grupo Semente was awarded with the last one.
